RRSNY Referee Match Fee
Effective February 28, 2016, the new RRSNY match fee is $90. No additional travel costs are to be added to the fee.
Referee payments are from the host team directly to the referee. Payment to the referee is expected at the match. Other payment arrangements, including any forms requested from the referee in order to process payment, must be communicated with the referee during confirmation in the week prior to the match.
The fee to be paid to the match referee is $90 per match. No additional travel costs are to be added to the fee.
The fee per assistant referee per match is $45. No additional travel costs are to be added to the fee. RRSNY may assign assistant referees to certain matches where requested by the Rugby Organization or governing body, such as playoff or premier league matches, or upon host team request. Payment of fees to the Assistant Referees is expected from the host team unless the team’s governing body has made other arrangements for payment in advance. Assignment is dependent on available individuals and other scheduling demands.
RRSNY considers a B match as a separate individual match for which the referee is owed a full match fee. RRSNY may at times assign the same referee from the A match or a separate referee for the B match, particularly where we anticipate a full length B match will be played. Teams requesting a B match be added to the RRSNY schedule are assumed to be requesting a referee for a full match. Teams need to clearly communicate to RRSNY in advance if a B match is expected to be less than a full match.
- If a separate referee is assigned to the B match, the fee for the B match referee is $90 regardless of length of match.
- If the referee from the A match agrees to also officiate the B match, the fee for the B match is a full match fee of $90. For cases where the A match referee also officiates the B match AND the B match is half the length or less of a full match, RRSNY guidance is to negotiate a fee for the B match proportional to the length of a full match at that level.
- If the referee from the A match agrees to also officiate a number of 7s matches in addition to the A match, the additional fee for the 7s is $20 per 7s match. Note the first bullet point that if a separate referee was assigned to a B match that was expected to be full length and that match is rearranged on the match day to a 7s match, the fee remains $90. 7s tournament referee fees will be calculated differently by RRSNY depending on tournament details.
Tournaments, typically defined by RRSNY as hosting matches among five or more teams, RRSNY will determine referee fee structures depending on tournament details. Tournaments require additional approvals from RRSNY and the Rugby governing bodies of the host team.
